Happy Birthday Baby Boy: Thoughts On Your Future

This weekend, our family and friends celebrated the second birthday of my youngest son, Caldwell. We asked his guests for their hopes and dreams for him when he’s their age. We got an intergenerational perspective on what they want for him, and our country, going forward.

My oldest son, Middleton, was born on July 4th in Washington DC. A few hours, later fireworks erupted in celebration across our nation—I’d like to think in honor of him.

Killing Him Will Kill Her

I planned to ride the metro. But the bus came along first.

Settling into my seat, the quiet of the morning commute was interrupted when from the back a twenty-something-year-old man bellowed, “Your ass better be going to [expletive] school,” to a younger acquaintance.

As a veteran bus rider, I knew this could go a number of ways. This one ended up in a friendly embrace.
